MEET THE TEAM

3D is led by two former student athletes, Dietrick Sooter and Brian Wesley.  Together they have excelled at sports at all levels including High School, College and the Professional ranks.

Dietrick Sooter

Dietrick Sooter is a former record setting high school, college and international basketball athlete. He attended Pierce City High School, where he set several state records including several for his offensive talent, particularly his excellent shooting skills (most threes in a half, most threes made in a game, most threes made in a season, and most career threes made, four 50 point games).  Dietrick attended STLCC-Meramec and continued setting several national records including most threes in a half, most threes in a game, most consecutive free throws made, and many other offensive records.  With hard work and extreme effort, Dietrick was blessed with opportunity to play internationally in Berlin, Germany.  Basketball has taught, and continues to teach Dietrick life lessons as he has faced many obstacles and has overcome them with hard work, self discipline, extreme determination and the drive to persevere and face challenges head on. Basketball has allowed Dietrick to build many relationships; from teammates, to coaches and to the players he has competed against, the friendships developed while playing the game is what he treasures most.   Those are all lessons he learned from basketball, a game he loves.  Dietrick took his love for the game and began coaching skills sessions, which he has done for the past 4 years..  He received his skills training under PureSweat CEO, Drew Hanlen.  It was under Drew’s tutelage that Dietrick decided to pursue a career in coaching so he could pass his knowledge on to student athletes to help them develop their game.  He currently coaches 4th - 8th grade and has been extremely successful.  Dietrick is very well respected in basketball circles by coaches, trainers, athletes and parents.  Dietrick’s coaching style is upbeat and intense. He likes to push the players to their fullest potential, while helping them identify solutions to on court situations.  Dietrick is very personable and creates strong bonds and establishes trust with athletes.  He helps them to understand that basketball is more mental than physical.  He teaches his student athletes to have a “next play” mentality so they aren’t afraid to make mistakes, as long as they learn from them and improve one play at a time. Dietrick’s knowledge of the game, experience along with his Pure Sweat training methodologies, offers 3D student athletes the opportunity to work with an elite skills coach and experience drills and techniques that are used by top college and professional prospects across the country.

Brian Wesley

Brian has been involved in sports for almost three decades, both as an athlete and also as an youth sports executive/board member.  A native of Chicago, Brian was a standout athlete in high school (CCHS) and was recruited by several division one mid-major and local colleges in Illinois, Iowa and Mississippi but decided to leave the midwest and head south for hoops.  Although his college basketball career was cut short, Brian continued his laser focus on academics and went on to complete his undergraduate degree in Accounting from Tennessee State University and advanced degrees from the University of Minnesota and Cornell University.  Brian has been involved in sports since college and has played in several competitive basketball leagues across North America.  He has also coached and refereed basketball and continues to pass his basketball knowledge to emerging players.  Brian has used basketball as a means to increase confidence, build relationships and make friends.  Growing up introverted and shy, basketball allowed Brian to gain confidence through a sport where he excelled and most of his friends today, he has met through basketball.  Having moved around for his corporate career, in every city that Brian has lived, he has found sanctuary at the local gymnasium and quickly got involved in competitive basketball leagues and the local sports community.  As a corporate executive, Brian has worked for over 15 years for Fortune 100 companies in various functions, including Finance, Audit and Human Resources.  Brian is now an entrepreneur and consultant that has dedicated his life and career to both sports and service.  He is the founder of Brikawe Consulting, a management consulting firm that provides advisory services to companies across North America.  He also conducts workshops and speaking engagements for Universities, non-profit and community organizations as well as sponsors youth associations and community events via his Brikawe Cares Foundation.  He is the past executive board member of (and affiliated with) several professional and community organizations, including the Hopkins Boys Basketball Association and the Minnesota Suns AAU program.
